The Whole Ball of Wax
"The Whole Ball of Wax," is an article describing how although art physically is unable to cause massive changes in the world, its impact on human beings is so profound that it can be attributed to global change. The thoughts and feelings that art provokes can lead to changes in human behavior which in turn alter the world in which we live in. Were there no art then these feelings would cease to exist. The negative impact of having a world without art would be greater perhaps than the positive impact art currently has on global world order and politics today.

Hi Nick,
ReplyDeleteSimilarly to your review of this piece, I did mention how art has a profound effect on what happens in the world today. I feel as though art invokes extremely strong emotions in some people, therefore can sometimes be seen to have a healing trait. I definitely agree that a world without art would be quite different, thus having a more negative impact on our daily lives than if it were an everyday attribution.
The first sentence of your post is very powerful and does a great job summing up what you took from the article. I really enjoy how you worded your summary and I agree with everything you have stated. If art did not exist then the feelings it could provoke would never come to life.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting how you pointed out that the impact of having a world with no art would be greater than the power that art currently has on the world. I agree with this statement and i believe that if more people looked at it this way then art could be even more powerful in changing the world.
